Thursday Night
Thursday evening worship is a new and developing part of our church life. The forty-five minute services have a meditative tone and provide an opportunity for worshipers to stop mid-week and refocus and renew their spirits. Music, scripture, prayer, and an interactive time all add to the feeling that God is indeed present in this place. Bugbee Chapel provides a beautiful setting for the worship service.
Adult Learning Opportunities

What do you know about Handel’s Messiah other than how beautiful it is? This is one of the possible topics for an Adult Learning Series. To listen to Messiah while exploring the theology and Bible passages behind it can be an eye-opening proposition.

Other topics that have been offered for Adult Learning Series in the past have included a series on the latest Bible research and interpretations, faith exploration, spiritual disciplines and a skills class for parents of teenagers. Topics are suggested by members often congregation and chosen according to interest among the adults in the congregation.

A Theological Conversation Print E-mail

A Theological Conversation begins January 23rd.

What do we believe about the church?  What is the basis for our gathering, and how do current and ancient scholarship inform decisions we  make about what the church should be and do.

Over four months we will be looking together at the views of four theologians to think theologically about church and life together as the church.  We will compare and contrast the views of the theologians and their understandings of what a faithful church is.

One does not need to be a theologian in order to be part of these discussions, and in fact great benefit will come form a variety of participants.  The plan is to meet from 9 to 11:30 A.M. one Saturday a month for four months.  The first meeting will be January 23 and the others will be set at that meeting.

Please sign-up for the Theological Conversation at worship on Sunday, or by calling the church office.

January 23 we will be discussing Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Church.
February 27, we will discuss The Empowerment Church: Speaking a New Language for Church Growth by Carlyle F. Stewart, III
March 20, we will be discussing Church in the Round by Letty Russell
April, the book will be Douglas John Hall’s The Cross in Our Context: Jesus and the Suffering World
