Pastor

Rev. David Fountain
Pastor
Rev’d Dr. David Fountain has served as our Interim Minister since June 4, 2018 during this important time in our church’s life. He has been working in partnership with Somers Congregational Church as we seek a new settled pastor.

David is married to Lissa (who teaches Svaroopa Yoga locally and nationally.) They have two sons, Caleb (who is practicing criminal defense law in Colorado) and Samuel (who is a medical student at UM Medical School). He has been engaged in professional ministry in New England for the majority of his 40-year ministry career.

He served many years in ministry in higher education, which culminated with a Harvard University appointment serving as the Associate Minister of The Memorial Church, working with The Rev’d Prof. Peter J. Gomes.

He felt a call to parish ministry while at Harvard and after completing his Doctor of Ministry degree entitled “The Faith Content of First Year MBA’s At Harvard Business School.” Following a series of settled ministerial calls he became certified as an Interim Ministry Specialist.

He has completed a number of intentional interim Massachusetts pastorates among them in; Dover, W. Concord, Longmeadow, Leominster, Sutton, Holliston, Topsfield, Paxton and Foxboro.

In addition to pastoral ministry he has served on the Board of Church and Ministry for the Central Association of the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ. He also served on The MACUCC Task Force on Church Growth, as well as the Communications Commission. David has been a Massachusetts Conference Synod Delegate, currently serves on The Transitional Ministry Committee for the MACUCC and for10 years with the Clergy Boundary Awareness Training Team for the Central Association of the MACUCC.

He completed a mindfulness meditation internship at University of Massachusetts Medical School in the Stress Reduction Clinic and from time to time offers programs in self-managed stress care for religious professionals, congregations and secular individuals and groups.

His hobbies include; kayaking, snowshoeing, music (mostly classic and jazz), and has been known to be a whiz on the wok, (“It’s fast and forgiving.”). He is an insatiable reader and like his brother, who is also a minister, (it appears to be a genetic defect!) loves the movies.
