Somers Congregational Church helps people in many outside groups. We rely upon volunteers to contribute in a variety of ways. Please consider learning more about our church giving and ways you can help. See specific needs below.
Giving Time and Talents
Many Boards and Committees have space in their membership for additional persons to help get things done. With such a variety of tasks to fulfill, almost anyone’s time and talents would be appreciated in some capacity.
During the year, individual fundraisers or other events require a small number of volunteers for specific tasks; these are announced during church services as they come up.
Giving Food and Clothing
Champ’s Place is the church’s local Open Pantry program. Donations of food and cash are always welcome, in support of our weekly provision of food to many persons and families in town.
Gently-used clothing donations are collected at certain times of the year in support of specific programs as requested. Contact the church office with any such donations you wish to give.
Monetary donations to specific programs supported by the church can be made by check or cash in the church office. Attendants at church worship services can set up regular giving schedules by pledging an amount paid weekly in collection envelopes, monthly, quarterly, or annually by check, or at specific times of the year as desired. Also, gifts of stocks, annuities, bequeaths or other financial instruments can be arranged with a member of the Finance or Investements and Trusts boards.
Sponsor a walker or walk yourself. We will walk along the Four Town Fair parade route on Saturday September 16. Meet us at 8:50AM in the Church parking lot to get in line for the parade.
We walk because they walk. The CROP walk sponsors food and water initiatives in regions of the world where food and water are not plentiful.
